We've scheduled our trip to Wakatobi in October of 2028 for three reasons:
(Please click on the links in RED below for more info.)
This is a fantastic trip to bring a non-diver to! You can snorkel the entire time and still not see everything! Also, there are land based excursions to keep everyone entertained during your stay. Did I mention a sandy beach right off your room? How about unlimited shore diving as well as scheduled boat dives - four divers to a guide. No waiting for the best shot here! You could sleep in and splash down when you'd like. I could go on and on, this trip really checks all the boxes!
The Wakatobi Dive Resort is a resort situated on its own private island South of Indonesia. In fact, it has its own private plane with its own private air strip. Their plane will pick us up in Bali (included in the price), so the Wakatobi experience everyone raves about starts in Bali with a great 'Welcome' breakfast in Bali and an escort onto their plane. From this point on, you will experience the personality and service that has people coming back for repeat trips annually - this says a lot about the Wakatobi!
There's no shortage of YouTube videos for the Wakatobi Dive Resort, but this short spells out the underwater experience best I think:
Wakatobi: The Dive Spot That Feels Like Another Planet! #travel
Running this trip in 2028 gives you a chance to save for it - I'd like everyone to have an opportunity to experience this type of diving in their life. For groups to run this trip annually is a big statement. Many groups told me this video is spot on and represents why we should go there: Wakatobi Experience
There are countless YouTube videos of the sealife, tribes and experience the Wakatobi has to offer Kristian Hansen spent time with the Bajo Tribe at Wakatobi and has a facinating YouTube video - very cool and worth checking out!
Scuba diving in Wakatobi Natoinal Park is renowned for the incredible marine biodiversity, including over 900 fish species and over 700 coral reef species. Wakatobi National Park is made up of more than 100 islands and is named for its four larger islands: Wangi-Wangi, Kaledupa, Tomia and Binongko. Diving Wakatobi National Park is a magical experience with crystal clear waters, different types of reef groups like the atolls, barrier, or fringing reefs and you can even see mangrove forests. Divers can find both large and small marine life here. - BlueWater Travel
There’s a story on why the diving and snorkeling experience is over the top. I’ll
give you the readers digest version..
The Wakatobi is the only resort on the island. When it was first built, there was one tribe of people who inhabited the island, they line fished and harvested from the ocean every day.
They fished it for generations so there wasn’t much marine life. The owner of the Wakatobi made a deal with the inhabitants of the island and said if we employ those that want to work to feed
your families, will you stop taking from the ocean and hurting the reef. Since then, they have not touched the reef or ocean and it’s now a marine park, nurtured by the residents of the
island. These people work at the Wakatobi (at one capacity or another) and will be happy to share their story with you.
This map shows why it's important to get the rooms I want (Bunglaows 1-8 and 14-20), pushing the trip out enables us to have beach front rooms with a spectacular view - the experience is worth every penny (without exageration). You will be able to choose your room in order of deposit received, but honestly - there's no bad choice here, all of them step onto the beach!
A colleague of mine said 'You can't oversell it, it's that good!'. We have the luxury of four divers to one guide. That doesn't mean we can't dive together (or dive in small groups), it means someone with experience is there to point out things for you - like pigmy seahorses. The dive team listens to you and accommodates your desires (safely).
You have a choice whether to come for 10 or 14 days:
The 14 day trip means we are at the Wakatobi October 2 – 16, 2028
The 10 day trip means we are at the Wakatobi October 6 – 16, 2028
We will take off from the US (Logan) Saturday, September 30, 2028 for the 14 day trip.
We will take off from the US (Logan) Wednesday, October 4, 2028 for the 10 day trip.
The flight home should only take one day (cross datelines).
Susan will fly in with the 14 day travelers.
Mike will fly in with the 10 day travelers.

(yes, there is a daily price break on the 14 night package).

14 Nights = $18,715.* to have your own room.
*The pricing MAY fluctuate a bit if the taxes change for 2028. IF it does, it won't be by much. I will know the exact pricing next
year (2026), but that’s a solid ballpark.
This includes:
Not included in the package:
Your deposit of $2,000 per person reserves a spot for you in this trip. You can pick your room if you’d like, first come first serve. I've sold a few rooms so far and expect this to sell
out fast (like Galapagos, Raja Ampat and the Maldives did). I’m waiving credit card fees for you, so feel free to put this on your card if you’d like. For budget purposes, the remaining
balance works out to be about $300/month, so pushing it out this far is less likely to take you away from going on trips in the meantime..
With this trip so far out, what if something happens and I’m unable to go?
The rooms with the plunge pool go for upwards of $6k/night, so I didn’t reserve any of those! If you’d like one, I’m sure I can snag one though! You’d get your own butler and dive boat… (Ha).
I’m here if you have any questions. 603-657-5276 (cell) or susan@aquaticescapes.com
